Cleaning windows without leaving streaks of dirt or product behind can be a real challenge. There’s nothing more frustrating than washing your windows and realizing that they’re full of streaks once they’ve dried. Sometimes, you only notice this once the sunshine hits them at a certain angle, and then that’s all you can see!

Here are our natural cleaning tips that will restore shine and transparency to the windows in your home.

Our “streak-free” tips and tricks

What should I use to wash my windows?

It’s hard to find the right product to wash your windows without leaving streaks behind. While water alone can leave stains, using a chemical can also make smudges on your windows.

If, like us, you’re committed to an eco-friendly approach, and you care about protecting your environment on a daily basis, here’s a simple and economical recipe. Make a mixture of 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts warm water, put it in a spray bottle, and you’re done!

White vinegar is a highly effective cleaner. However, if the smell of vinegar bothers you, you can always add a few drops of lemon juice to your mixture.

What should I scrub my windows with?

Once you’ve made your streak-free window cleaner, arm yourself with eco-friendly paper towels, such as Cascades Tuff® Enviro. Our paper towels are gentle on the environment, especially since they’re made from 100%-recycled fibres.

Depending on the size of the window, tear off one or more sheets of paper towel for the washing, and set aside a few more for the wiping.

Paper towels are the perfect cloth for your windows because they don’t leave fluff behind and absorb dirt so that it doesn’t fall back onto your surface.

When should I start cleaning my windows?

To avoid leaving streaks as much as possible when cleaning your windows, choose the right time to perform this task. It’s not recommended to wash your windows when it’s sunny, because your mixture might dry too quickly, which will leave streaks. It’s best to wait until the end of the day and enjoy the sunset during your cleaning. Otherwise, for morning people, clean your windows right when you get out of bed!

What is the right way to clean my windows?

When washing your windows, you’ll notice that it’s best to go from top to bottom to drag the dirt down. Then, just start washing from right to left.

In addition, we recommend starting with the outside window before continuing with the inside window. Indeed, since the outside window is normally the dirtiest, this allows for better visibility once cleaned.

Pretty simple, isn’t it? Follow these tips, and washing your windows will be a piece of cake, and your glass will once again be sparkling and streak-free.

You should know that you can also use this homemade mixture accompanied by Cascades Tuff® Enviro paper towels to give shine and radiance to your doors, mirrors, or glass tables.
